“Make sure you find time to tell your horse you love him. Don't just tack up and ride then leave. After a ride, rub him down, give him a little scratch on the withers, bury your cheek in his neck and whisper to him how grateful you are that he let's you be part of his world. Mean what you say!” Mal Phillips (33)
Over the last ten years or so there has been an explosion in the quantity and quality of equipment for horse and rider. How much of this is fashion and marketing led I leave you to decide. However, it does leave we poor horse people with choices to make. For some the choice can be bewildering and, particularly for our horses, we can give away our power (and money) to some unworthy individuals if we are not careful.
The watchwords for me with all equipment are function (it can fulfil it’s purpose), comfort (it fits) and value (for money).
